FELT TENTS (KİYİZ ÜYLER) IN KOKSETAV REGION

The difficult climate conditions of Middle Asia geography have directed the Turks who live in this region, livestock economy as well as settled agriculture economy. The Turkish tribes provide for connected to livestock economy have dwelled in tents which enable movement possibility and for keeping themselves to the difficult climate conditions. The tents which are the inspiration source of domes, round cupolas, baldachins and so many architectural and adornment facts are made out of felt in our search field “Köksetav city in Kazakhstan” and these tents are entitled “kiyiz üy”. Varied to concerning with social standing, economic grade, marital status kiyiz üys are also the cultural heritage which reflect of the architectural intellection, traditions and customs and life style the people live in mentioned region. This heritage which interchanging from the past to the fiture displays a big wealth according to its own basic parts, variations, installation and gathering, internal structure features and believes and implementation become its own circle. When it is considered that the kiyiz üys disappeared from the daily life after the increasing process of changing to settled life, the importance of putting forth this richness and transferring it to future generations will be understood easily.
