ANALYSIS OF “ISTANBULLU GELİN” SERIES ON THE AXIS OF STRUCTURAL FAMILY THERAPY THEORY

Visual elements such as movies and series are frequently used in the fields of social work, psychology, psychiatry and family counseling in establishing and observing the therapeutic relationship between the client-therapist. These materials are an important tool in the development of skills such as thinking, feeling and analyzing in psychotherapeutic relationships. Accordingly, films and series are also used as an educational tool. In this study Gülseren Buday?c?o?lu's book titled “Hayata Dön” was adapted to a television series called “?stanbullu Gelin” was discussed in the context of structural family therapy. Structural family therapy is an approach that addresses the problematic interaction patterns in families. Within this framework, there are unique techniques to improve the communication and interaction between family members and to create a healthier family structure. In this perspective, the basic concepts of structural family therapy system, subsystems, boundaries, intergenerational relations, hierarchy and coalitions, power and role concepts are discussed.
