ABITS OF INTERNET USAGE IN ELDERLY GROUP OF PEOPLE: TRABZON EXAMPLE

The Internet, which began to civilize rapidly since 1990, has been rapidly spreading among people in a much shorter time compared to other mass media. While using of the Internet is quite common among young people, it has become a tool that people of all ages use now. The aim of this study was to determine the Internet usage habits of the elderly people. Field survey method was used in the study and data were obtained from 140 participants by face to face survey technique. According to the results of the study; It is understood that the confidence level of the Internet users of the elderly age group is in the middle level. As the internet usage time of the participants increased, the level of confidence and dependence increased. Women who participated in the study use more internet daily than men. More than half of the respondents stated that they used internet to eliminate their loneliness.
