Abstract

Author(s): Adem GÜNEŞ, Mukadder ALTUN

In this article, according to the opinions of the teachers, it is aimed to make due diligence for the elective Qur'an lesson, to identify the problems experienced in the lesson and to propose a solution. In research, situation analysis from qualitative research were used. In this context were conducted interviews with 26 teachers working in different regions and cities of Turkey. The datas in research were obtained through a semi-structured interview form. It was concluded that the student's choice of this course with his own willingness had an effect on the efficiency of the course. On the other hand, the teachers stated that the classes were crowded, the differences in the readiness levels of the students, their reluctance towards the course, the insufficiency of the textbook, the absence of a separate classroom for the course, and the families' lack of awareness about the course as difficulties of the course. As a result, in order for the lessons to reach a more qualified and preferable point, it is necessary to make improvements in many problem areas, especially the curriculum of the course.
