WEIGHT LOSS METHODS AND NUTRITION BEHAVIORS IN ATHLETES IN WEIGHT CATEGORY

In this study, weight loss methods and feeding behaviors of the weight category athletes were investigated. A total of 148 combats athletes (wrestling, boxing and weightlifting) were included in the study. "Fitness Weight Loss Methods and Effects Scale" and "Nutrition Approaches Test Questionnaire" were applied. Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis and t- tests were used for statistical procedures. There was a statistically significant difference in the fluid loss, physiological and psychological sub-dimensions of the scale according to gender (p 0.05). While there was a significant difference in the milk sub-categories of the sex (p 0,05). As a result, the university sportsmen engaged in combat sports are slightly affected by the diet. Male athletes were less affected by loss of fluid compared to female athletes while they were less physiologically and psychologically affected. The nutrition approaches of the students can be evaluated good to the situation. Training should be given to fighters on nutrition information and weight reduction
