VALUES IN DAILY LIFE ACCORDING TO DIARIES OF PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Recently, there has been a significant increase in behaviors as violence, lack of confidence, respect, tolerance and affection in Turkey as all over the world. Decrease of humanistic values in social structure may be an important threat for future communities. Therefore, education systems should take precautions for realizing the aim of training good and effective individuals. In this study, regarding to define these precautions it is aimed at determining status of values in daily life of primary school students. In the present study, out of qualitative research methods, “document analysis” method was used. 21 students participated to study. Participants were determined through easy reachable sampling. Induction analysis method was used to analyze data. Thirteen themes as responsibility, diligence, human relationships, self-control, national values, being honorable, cleanliness, consistence, tolerance, sharing, mercy, honesty, politeness were reached at the end of the analysis. It can be said that values take place frequently as a theme in daily life of the students. Effective and planned values education activities should be done at schools for the purpose of teaching values which exist in life of the students effectively rather than randomly.
