The purpose of this research is to improve a scale that will measure the level of belief self efficiency of elementary students about reading comprehension. Additionally, by using sources about relationship between reading comprehension skills and self efficiency, a study to improve a new scale has been conducted. In the prepared scale there are 35 questions. The items of the scale has been prepared as type of likert quintet. In the formation of the scale the opinions of the experts have been used. In the preliminary study the scale has been carried out in 9 elementary schools with different social-economical levels. The scale was implemented to first level, fifth grade 521 students studying in these 9 schools. The surveys that were filled out wrongly or uncompleted were eliminated and the remaining 500 surveys were used for study. The validity of the scale has been shown by factor analysis. The suitability of the data for factor analyzing has been determined by KMO and Bartlett Sphericity tests before applying factor analysis. The cronbach alpha reliability coefficient of the scale with 35 items has been found as 0.90 in reliability study before eliminating the items with factor load under 0.35 values. In order to determine the validity of the scale, the items with factor load under 0.35 have been eliminated, after that the reliability coefficient of the scale with 27 items has been found as 0.88.
