The interaction of visitors and local residents can have effects on the physical and social structure as well as long-term effects on the cultural structure in tourism activities in rural areas. These effects that cause the change of cultural structure can have negative consequences in terms of local residents who usually want to imitate tourists. The preservation of cultural structure in tourism development of rural areas contributes to the successful sustainable tourism development of destinations with distinctive features thanks to the authenticity which is one of the elements that tourists are most looking for. In this context, the subject of study is the effects of tourism development in rural areas on the cultural structure of local residents. It is aimed to determine the impact of this development on the cultural structure of local residents through the evaluation of tourism development of Ye?ilyurt Village in Çanakkale Province which is chosen as a research area. Data was gathered and analysed through focus group interviews with local residents of Ye?ilyurt Village. The findings obtained from the study show that no infrastructure works have been done to preserve and promote the cultural structure of Ye?ilyurt Village in the efforts of tourism development. Another result of the study is the visitors influence more the local residents and the tourism development of the village is shaped by the cultural structure of the visitors.
