Music, which is a means of expressing feelings and ideas with sounds, has been transformed into written form in various ways to become permanent over time. These are known as letters, notations, and tablature writing types. Tablature is a musical script that is a numerical representation of the frets on instruments and can be used without the need to read the note sounds. Tablature, which is a practical-learned system, was used in instruments such as lavta, lute, guitar, and organ in Renaissance and Baroque periods with different writing styles. Due to the need for a common language in music writing over time, musical notation (string/stave, clefs) has been enhanced and thus the use of tablature has decreased from day to day. Due to the need for fast learning-teaching, tablature music writing has gained popularity again in recent years and it has started to be widely used especially in guitar genres. This research aims to examine the status of tablature, which is one of the musical writing types, in the historical process, to give information about the modern guitar tablature systems used today by making classifications, to give examples about the music software that allow the use of tablature and the websites in which tablature music writing can be accessed in guitar education. This research is important in terms of providing information on tablature types that are widely used in electric guitar, electric bass guitar, acoustic guitar methods in addition to online guitar teaching websites of recent years, and also because it is one of the few studies conducted in this field. The research is in the general survey model and the literature review method was used. As a result of the research, it was concluded that there are many types of music writing under the title of letter writing, musical notation, tablature, and also that tablature music writing is used in today's guitar education and that there are three different types of writing that express the modern tablature system.
