The Turkish and the Albanian nations crossed with each other`s path many years ago. During that time, togetherness of these two nations had an impact on culture, language and religion. In addition, the official language of the Ottoman was Turkish. So Turkish language had influence on Albanian language. Furthermore, Albanian people learned Turkish language as well. This interaction gained momentum, when the Albanians embraced Islam.

Teaching Turkish language has been divided into four periods: Ottoman period, the years of independence, communist and post-communist years.
