TRANSFORMATION OF PRIVACY ON SOCIAL MEDIA: A NETNOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS ON YOUTUBE

With advancing technology and the internet, social media has begun to play an important role in the daily life of the individual. In the direction of these developments, the privacy that preserves the existence of the individual throughout history has entered the transformation process. The culture of surveillance and peeking caused by the information and contents shared in social media circles is an example of the change and infringement of the phenomenon of privacy. The main purpose of this study is to determine the audience's reactions in context of infringement privacy with VLOG-type content published on Youtube, a social media platform. In this study, a qualitative research method, netnographic analysis has been adopted and 2.221 audience comments were analyzed under two categories. In line with the comments of the followers; it has been found that the content producer has been exposed to surveillance through the video content of the VLOG type and violates her privacy, also the audience intervened in the life of the content producer with their comments.
