TRACES LEFT IN THE MEMORY OF THE CITIES: A CASE OF TRABZON

Cities are made up of dynamic fragments that contain many living and inanimate materials. Today, rapid urbanization, increasing technological needs, and many other similar factors affect cities in the negative direction. Urban identity, city memory, historical and cultural spaces are also taking the place of this unaffected. However, historical and cultural inventories are among the most important constituents of national urban identity. At the same time, cities are separated from each other by natural conditions, geomorphological and ecological characteristics. In other cities, a city is a separate or even special feature often composed of these parameters. Today, however, cities lose their qualities and reveal urban textures that resemble each other. This results in the loss of urban identity, ecological, social and psychological consequences. Within the framework of this study, the concepts of city icons, city traces and identities were examined within the scope of professional discipline of landscape architecture and it was realized with the aim of making the historical places that are lost and memorable in the cities which are the most recent problems more effective, increasing their recall and raising awareness. In this context, he visited Trabzon and during the survey he was carried out with a group of 100 people who came to Trabzon for tourist purposes. In the conclusions, the properties and the percentages of the 15 historical places in the answers are explained. These are the Uzungöl, Sümela Monastery, Atatürk Mansion, Haghia Sophia Museum, Memi?a?a Mansion, Gülbahar Hatun Mosque, Trabzon Castle, Çar?? Mosque, Trabzon Museum, Tavanli Mosque, Fatih Mosque, Bedesten, Alacahan, ?skenderpa?a Mosque and Zagnos bridge. As a result, the differences between the first five historical places are explained; suggestions have been made to increase the preferences of the rest of the places and to make it more effective to excavate their minds. Because these values will gradually gain an identity to the city and will become indicators that reflect the basic characteristics of the city throughout history. When we look at the results of the study, the most preferred ones and those that come to mind are the places that are examined in the direction of the data obtained. Uzungol (93%), Sumela Monastery (86%), Atatürk Mansion (82%), Haghia Sophia Museum (75%) and Memi?a?a Mansion (70%). The fact that the recreation opportunities of these places are high and the possibility of enabling longer activities are among the results of the study. At the same time, within the scope of the study, other historical and cultural values should be emphasized and preserved and better places should be reached, creating awareness and creating awareness among the objectives. The contributions of these spaces to the profession discipline of landscape architecture have been discussed. It is thought that this work will be supported by Trabzon's urban identity and urban memory. Trabzon as many historical / cultural having inventory is expected to carry a guide in other provinces of Turkey.
