TOURISM POTENTIAL OF BİTLİS AND LOCAL RESIDENT’S PERSPECTIVE OF TOURISM

The aim of this study is to determine the local resident’s perspective on tourism potential of Bitlis. However, it is the subobjectives of this research to determine whether there is a statistically significant difference between the perspective of the local resident about the potential of Bitlis and the various independent variables. The questionnaire form prepared for this purpose was applied face to face with 984 people selected from Bitlis local resident. The data that was obtained from the survey, was analyzed using SPSS 22.0 for Windows statistical package software. Factor analysis conducted in accordance with this aim was determined the perspective of the local resident about the potential of Bitlis. According to the result of this study, there are important tourism resources that constitute tourism potential in Bitlis but it has been observed that these resources can not be provided with tourism and that they are not utilized to a sufficient extent.
