“THE SEMANTIC EQUIVALENCE OF THE IDIOMS CONSTRUCTED WITH ANIMAL NAMES IN GERMAN AND TURKISH

In this article the idioms that are constructed using animal names in German and in Turkish will be compared. The idioms constructed with animal names in the resources “Duden (Redewendungen und sprichwörtliche Redensarten - idiomatisches Wörterbuch der deutschen Sprache) and “Atasözleri ve Deyimler Sözlüü 2” by Ömer As?m Aksoy in Turkish constituted the basis of this study. The study is composed of four parts. In the first part, the lists of the animals cited in idioms using animal names, (frequency) and their Turkish translations are given.
