Abstract

Author(s): Mevlüt Can KOÇAK

Political parties use many different methods and techniques to reach their voters. One of these methods is the media. In particular, political parties and candidates are now widely used in the media for political communication. Informing voters through the media provides both political parties and voters with a number of advantages. Thanks to the media, political parties transfer their promises and ideas to large audiences without space limitations. In this way, voters learn about the activities and promises of political parties through the media. In this study conducted in the context of Trabzon sample, field research method was used. Data were collected from 370 participants using face to face interview technique. When the results of the study are examined; participants have a low level of confidence in the media in political information. The level of trust in the media in men's political information is higher than that of women. The most preferred media tool of the participants in political information is the internet and social media. Again, one third of the respondents stated that public opinion polls published before the elections would affect voting behavior.
