THE ROLE OF LOCAL NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATIONS IN RURAL TOURISM: THE EXAMPLE OF BALIKES?R PROVINCE

Rural tourism is a type of tourism type that not only within people, but also includes natural sources. While certain countries in the world is making progresses at rural tourism department; with having a big potential; Turkey could not show process demanded. Rising of education level, developing of transportation and communication facilities, rising of interest depending on culture, rising of interest to local food, developing of ecological life consciousness are some of the necessary elements in order to develop rural tourism. It is necessary that tendency to rural tourism must be risen by presenting rural areas’ historical, natural and cultural values to local and foreign tourists’ interest. In this process, local sharers have big tasks. It is thought that especially Civil Society Foundations’ tasks undertaken in this process and whether they are efficient or not is quite important. This study’s aim is to research that whether Local Civil Society Foundations in Bal?kesir are affective and enough at rural tourism activities or not, their necessary support and importance at their working. The study is descriptive property; survey has been used in order to gather information. Bal?kesir has been selected as search tool, because of that although it is in the West of Turkey, it lives Anatolian culture and with rich, natural and ecological structure, it has an important rural potential. For this purpose, poll have been taken to 42 civil society organisations in Bal?kesir. General view according to research signs; in order to develop rural tourism, it can be said that they are more effective on matters like aiming to maintainability of region culture, contributing to works of diversity of region tourism, supporting to works of developing to rural tourism, carrying out a work about spreading of tourism activities to other neighbourhood and villages at the region, carrying out Works in order to save region’s artistic traditional culture, aiming to develop rural tourism by saving natural environment, carrying out works in order to save ecological balance. It can be said that presentation and marketing one of the most important duties for tourism has remained weak about matters like raising the awareness of public.
