THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INSTRUCTORS’ PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES AND STUDENTS’ACADEMIC MOTIVATION

The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between instructors' professional competencies and students’ academic motivation. Relational screening model was used in the research. The participant group of the research was composed of 438 studying at various departments in education faculty in the 2014-2015 academic year at Kilis 7 Aral?k University. In data collection, Personal Information Form that was developed by the researchers, Scale for Professional Competence of Instructor developed by ?ahin (2014) and Academic Motivation Scale developed by Vallerand et al (1992) and adapted by Karagüven (2012) into Turkish were used. In data analysis, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, frequency, correlation and regression methods were used. As a result of data analysis, It was found to have high levels of professional competencies of the instructors, but their professional competencies relating to teaching principles and methods were at medium level, and students' academic motivation level was found to be high level. The results of the regression analysis, professional competencies of teaching principles and methods have reached the conclusion that predicted 9% of the academic motivation of students. ?nstructors have medium level at professional competencies of teaching principles and methods means that need to be developed in this issue.
