THE PROBLEM OF IDENTIFYING OBJECT IN TURKISH

Abstract

Author(s): Nuh DOĞAN

The object and its morpheme is one of important problems in Turkish grammar. Turkish workers generally determine object using either morpheme and function of object or only its function. Some of them have accepted object as a obligatory syntactic valency from the point of view of verb-coplement reletion. As a result of this different approachs, in Turkish it has been claimed that there are +E, +DEN, +LE morphememarked objects. Therefore object sorts being in contradiction with each other have occured. All of assertion which being claimed on object caused the problem and confusion of identifying object. In this point, it seem that to identify object easily, +? and +Ø accusative case-marker morphemes must be used, and accusative case has marked not only “patient” semantic role and different semantic roles or case, and it must be distinguish betwen object and obligatory syntactic valency that verb requires.
