In the tradition of Islamic historiography, the military expeditions organized by the Prophet Muhammad are commonly expressed by the name magh?z?. More specifically, the wars which he did not participated in but recruited the military units and sent them for, are called the sariyyah (pl. sar?y?) while the military expedition which he himself participated in is called gazwa (pl. ghazaw?t). These military expeditions are mentioned extensively in the particular literature of s?rah and magh?z?, but there is a lot of information about these expeditions in the books on other fields of Islam as well. One of them is Hadith. The Hadith books often contain na rrations of the Prophet’s behavior, words and advice, but there is also significant information about the wars he participated in. Amongst the books of the Hadith literature, the most important type is the sunans, which aim to show the practices about worship, treatment and punishments in a well-established order. One of the authors of this type of works is Ibn M?jah. In his book al-Sunan, Ibn M?jah presents more than four thousand narrations. Although these riw?yas consist of the hadiths which are narrated to determine the issues on Islamic jurisprudence, they also contain information about the ghazaw?t of the Prophet. In our study on al -Sunan, one hundred and six narrations about ghazaw?t were determined. This article aims to examine the content of the na rrations which have obtained as well as their number. In addition to this, it will be also revealed the channels which they come from and their sources, namely s?rah and magh?z? authors were among the sources or not. This study, as a historical material, will contribute to the knowledge which obtained from the s?rah and magh?z? book
