THE MEDICINE TEXT WRITTEN IN OLD ANATOLIAN TURKISH “KITABUTIBBU’LHIKMET”

A lot of Turkish works were written after creating the written language based on Oghuz dialect when Oghuzs came to Anatolia.The medical works among the texts written in this first period that can be called ‘Old Anatolian Turkish’ or ‘Old Oghuz Turkish’ have taken an important place. The medical works written in this period are worth studying on due to its language simplicity, including Turkish medical terms and holding valuable information related to the medical mentality in this period including 13th and 15th century. One of these works is “Kitabu T?bbu’l-Hikmet” that is subject for our study. The only known copy of this work which is the topic of the doctoral thesis conducted by us is registered in pt. 144/Seetzen: Nr. 123 in Gotha Research Library in Germany.This study will first give a brief information about the medical mentality of that period and medicine books , and then present the work of which brief information given above. The characteristics of the work , the language of work, the subject of the work, and the scope of the work will be described during the study. Also, the examples from the texts in book will be given.
