THE IMPACT OF CITTASLOW ON LIFE SATISFACTION: A RESEARCH ON ATTITUDES AND PERCEPTIONS OF LOCAL PEOPLE IN UZUNDERE-ERZURUM

The concepts of sustainable life and sustainable tourism are one of the most important developments in tourism industry recently. Any city adapting the understanding of sustainable tourism can use its resources efficiently in the long-term, transfer them to next generations and acquire life satisfaction by increasing the quality of life. In this context, it can be stated that local people living in Cittaslow cities will have satisfaction on their life and the quality of their life will increase. Therefore, more locally regions/cities stand as candidate to have the status of Cittaslow. Erzurum-Uzundere has been included in the nomination process in 2015 to have the status of Cittaslow by considering the nomination criteria. In this sense, this research aims to find out the attitudes and perceptions of local people on Cittaslow. Besides, this research delves into whether there will be any change on the life quality of local people or not on the condition that Erzurum-Uzundere becomes a Cittaslow.
