19th century became an era for the Ottoman Empire that witnessed the immigrations frequently. Millions of people whose hometowns were invaded considered Anatolia as the last chance to take refuge. During this period, millions of people had to leave their hometowns where their ancestors had settled hundreds of years before. The immigrants had the biggest support from the Hilal-i Ahmer Society (Turkish Red Crecsent). In this article, the history of Hilal-i Ahmer Society and the quality of the support they did for the immigrants will be explained.
