Abstract

Author(s): Mehmet ÇANLI, Mehmet ÇANLI

The Evaluation of the Gendarme’s perspective towards the citizens and their mutual relationship and the gendarme’s staff training was prepared by the Ankara Government and published as a booklet in 1922 and the Gendarme’s training and relationships with the citizens are evaluated in the perspective of that period. In this study, the booklet “ Gendarme Station Commanders’ Guide” which was published in 1922 by the Ankara Government during the National Struggle period is going to be evaluated. In all the academic studies on the Gerdarme Organization, this booklet has not been found. For this reason I believe that this booklet will shed light on the Gendarme training in that period. The booklet is about 101 pages. It consists of ninety-six parts. Each part is very brief with a short question and answer. The Gendarme staffs’ organization structure and the superior-subordinate relationships were addressed. Apart from this information the personal care and general public health of the staff were also looked at. There was also detailed information on how the Gerdarme staff should act towards the citizens. In the framework of this booklet, evaluations on the Gendarme staff’s training, the organization structure and the Gendarme’s perspective towards the citizens can be found.
