THE FIRST CRIMEAN ASSOCIATIONS FOUNDED IN TURKEY

Abstract

Author(s): H. Murat ARABACI

As in the various places in the Russioan Tzardom, there were significant attempts to establish a nation-state in the beginning of the twentieth century. We observe that many of the Crimean Turkish intellectuals maintained close contacts with the Ottoman intellectuals. It is even possible to argue that the first idea of nation-state to be established in Crimea was first introduced in the Crimean Associations founded in the Ottoman Empire.
