THE EFFECT OF SPEECH ANXIETY ON PSYCHOLOGICAL VULNERABILITY IN TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL ATHLETES

The aim of the study is to examine the effect of speech anxiety on psychological vulnerability in athletes who do individual sports with team sports. 219 volunteers between the ages of 18-27 who participated in the team and individual sports participated in the study. Data collection process was carried out in the free time in a way that was suitable for randomizing the block from the participants. Demographic information questionnaire consisting of 7 questions developed by the researcher to the participants, In the second part, Sinclair and Wallston psychological fragility scale to determine the psychological vulnerability levels of the team and individual athletes, In the last part, the Speech Anxiety Scale developed by Yaman and Sofu (2013) was used to measure the speech anxiety of the team and individual athletes. The study consisted of 124 (female 24, male 76) individual athletes and 95 (female 43, male 52) athletes. The effect of gender on psychological vulnerability and speech anxiety was not calculated (p> 0.05). There was no significant difference between sports type and psychological fragility and speech anxiety (p> 0.05). While there was a significant difference between height and psychological vulnerability (p 0.05). There was no significant difference between age and psychological vulnerability and speech anxiety (p> 0.05). In the comparison of body weight with psychological vulnerability and speech anxiety, no significant difference between psychological vulnerability and speech anxiety with body weight was calculated (p> 0.05). As a result, it was concluded that team sports and individual sports have a similar effect on athletes' gender, sports type, body weight, age and psychological vulnerability, and speech anxiety. On the other hand, it has been observed that height length has an effect on the psychological fragility level.
