The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the self-esteem development program on self-esteem and general self-efficacy scores of eighth grade students. Pre-test, post-test semi-experimental control grouped design was used in the study. 19 students for experimental group and 19 students for control group were included. The Coopersmith Self-Perception Scale and the General Self-Efficacy Scale were used as data collection tools. The self-esteem improvement training program, which was adapted by Kaya and Saçkes (2004) and consists eight sessions was applied to the experiment group. The control group was not exposed to any application. Significance of differences in pre-test post-test scores of subjects were analyzed with Mann Whitney U test. The findings of the research showed that the self-esteem improvement program had a significant effect on the self-esteem and general self-efficacy scores of the students in the experiment group. Based on the findings of the research, comments have been made, suggestions for implementation and research have been developed.
