THE EFFECT OF PHONOLOGICAL AWARENESS MUSIC PROGRAM FOR PRESCHOOL CHILDREN ON CHILDREN'S PHONOLOGICAL RECOGNITION SKILLS FOR LITERACY PREPARATION

In this study, it is targeted to develop phonological awareness skills by musical activities. In this study, experimental research was made with pre-test post-test control group method. In 2013-2014 academic year, the study group consisted of 23 students in experimental group and 23 students in control group age of 60-72 month old government preschools located in the districts of Dar?ca in Kocaeli. In the pre test and final test stages of this study, was used ?Marmara Primary Education Preparation Scale Phonological Study Sub-Test? developed by Ozgul Polat and ?Mountain Shadows Phonological Awareness Scale? developed by Watkings and Edwards. Musical activities were used to develop ?Phonological Awareness Musical Program ?is applied to the 23 children in experimental group. The result of the study, post test scores of the students in the experimental group for both tests were significantly higher in the pre test scores. In addition, the experimental group post test scores for both tests were significantly higher than control group post test scores.
