The main purpose of this study is to determine the personality traits of students who take the undergraduate and graduate level education in the field of tourism and their influence on them in making career in tourism. Within the framework of the objectives, the population of the research constitutes the students taking the undergraduate and graduate level education in the field of tourism. According to research type, a survey of secondary data was evaluated and accordingly a questionnaire was developed. While a questionnaire was being designed, “Five Factor Model of Personality” personality scale developed by Goldberg (1990) was used. In the end of this research, it has been clear that, personal characteristics of students in the area of tourism have a significant effect on their choice of career. It has been found that especially those, who take high school courses that relates to the field of tourism, give more importance to career planning. However, students with the feeling of responsibility and compatibility to their sub-scales and adaptability to innovations, if compared to the extroverts and emotionally stabilized ones, are mostly found to make a choice of career in tourism It has been found that especially those, who take high school courses that relates to the field of tourism, give more importance to career planning.
