THE EFFECT OF GENDER ROLE EDUCATION ACTIVITIES ON SOCIAL GENDER STEREOTYPES OF PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN AGED 60-72 MONTHS

This research is a study where the classical experimental method involving experimentand control groups. The study group consisted of 80 children, 40 of which were experimental and 40 of which were control groups, to 2 kindergarten preschools located in the districts of Dar?ca and Gebze in Kocaeli. The “Social Gender Stereotypes Assessment Instrument”, which was developed in the scope of this test, wasused as a preliminary-test and final-test forthe children in the experimentand control groups. The 40 children in the experiment group were applied “Gender Role Education Activities”, which was prepared for this research. According to pre-test findings; It was determined that the children in both groups had similar perceptions about gender roles. After the test, it was found that there were changes in the scores of children in the experiment group and the final test scores were significantly different. with F (1,77)=44,06, p<0.05. With the “Gender Role Education Activities” applied to 40 children in the experiment group, it was discovered that their stereotypes in relation to gender roles, were broken.
