TEMPORAL CHANGE OF MARRIAGE AND DIVORCE RATES AT PROVINCIAL LEVELS IN TURKEY(2001-2015)

Turkey has experienced rapid changes in marriages in a short period. Although Turkey has an increasing population, there is a decline in the number of marriages. As variables making up differences among different geographical regions; educational levels, economic activities, cultural backgrounds of individuals, and engagement of women in business can be said to have a huge impact on marriage. Divorce rate in Turkey has been increasing rapidly in recent years. It is also estimated that it will continue to increase. Education is seen to have the largest impact on divorce among women. As education status of women increases, divorce rates increase. As important life events, marriage and divorce imply important clues for understanding the changes in the society and all social facts. This study reveals the temporal change in marriages and divorces between 2001 and 2015 at provincial level.
