TEACHERS ' SOCIAL MEDIA USAGE HABITS: TRABZON EXAMPLE

The rapid development of the Internet has led to significant changes in people’s media usage habits. With the effect of multiple media opportunites brought by web 2 technology people meet their needs such as news, socialization and entertainment throught social media with an increasing speed day by day. This study was conducted to reach findings about social media usage habits of individuals doing teaching profession. The data of the research was collected through face-to-face interviews from 100 teachers who participated in the survey in Trabzon. According to the results of the study; It has been revealed that male teachers use internet more than female teachers. When the level of trust in social media is examined, it is concluded that both male and female teachers have low level of trust in social media. The first three reasons of teachers' use of social media are; “to have fun and relax, to communicate with my friends, to have information about the event and people .”
