STATE AND RELIGION RELATIONSHIPS IN AZERBAIJA

In this study, under the title state and religious relationships, firstly, the information was given about different religions which were historically propagated in Azerbaijan territories, after that, it was emphasized the spread of Islamic religion and its role in the f ormation of Azerbaijanian people. By mentioning briefly historical phases which religions got through in this areas, religious views in modern times were exhibited. Currently, Azerbijan is secular state and persues its relationships with religion according to the principles of secularism. The vast majority of the population are muslims which follow different sects. In addition to this, there are at the least followers of different sects of Christianity and Judaism and New Religious Movements in Azerbaijan. The State supports to all officially registered religious groups, indiscriminatingly in point of majority, minority, historical and new behave equally and give financial support. In this study, religious liberties in the Constitution of Azerbijan Republic and another apropriate laws were examined. It was mentioned that whether individual religious liberties are preserved by state or not. Information was given about Government agencies which regulate relationships between state and religion, and their activities
