SPORTING FESTIVALS AND EFFECTS IN THE ANCIENT GREEK CIVILIZATION

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the sport festivals in ancient Greek civilization and their effects made. Literature search was done. The sporting festivities in ancient Greek civilization begin before the construction of the ancient Olympics. Sport's festivals in ancient Greek were the Olympic in Olympia, Pythia near Delphi, and Nemea near Nemea and Isthmian games near Corinth. Many Helen's goal were at least once in their lives to join the big festival in Olympia. Religious practices are most important in these festivals. The kingdom and people's desire to satisfy God is the front plan. The Olympic Games were the sporting, social and cultural highlight of the Ancient Greek calendar for almost 12 centuries. All free Greek males were allowed to take part, from farmhands to royal heirs, although the majority of Olympians were soldiers. Conclusion: It has been understood that the philosophy of modern education, camping and competition is in ancient Greek civilizations. In the festivities, sport is a reality that political and military power is organized to include many concepts such as fair play, reward and punishment as well as satisfaction of the gods, social integration.
