Author(s): Sevinç MERSİN, Filiz ARSLAN

This research was conducted as a descriptive study with 100 patients diagnosed with depression in order to determine the effects of social support in patients with depression. "Socio-demographic Information Form", "Beck Depression Scale" and "Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale" were used in the research. According to the results of the research, there was a negative significant relationship between depression score and social support score (p≤0.05). In addition, married people had lower depression scores and higher social support scores than single patients. It was determined that perceived social support from the family in married female patients was higher.
