RESPONSE OF MENEMEN EVENT TO ADANA PRESS

The event recorded in history by the name “Menemen Event” has been happened at Menemen town of ?zmir in 23 February 1930. During the event targeting the Republican regime, a number of reactionaries moving in an organized manner had martyred snotty Kubilay and two guards. Because of this event that cause great resentment in Turkey, which Menemen, Manisa and Bal?kesir of idâre-i örfîye was declared. While the perpetrators of the event have been caught as soon as possible, during the investigation about the event, some people-especially companion of Nak?ibendî sect-have been arrested because of the ground that they are relevant to event. As a result of judgment made by Dîvân-? Harb-i Örfî, while a lot of people have been penalized with sundry penal, 32 people have been condemned to death. In this study, the occurrence of Menemen event, response of the trial process of perpetrators of the event to Adana press and the reaction of Adana public to this event have been considered.
