RESEARCH ON THE BELIEF AND PRACTICES OF THE ALEVIS LIVING IN ADIYAMAN ON BIRTH, MARRIAGE AND DEATH FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF HISTORY OF RELIGIONS

This research was conducted on some of the belief and practices in the social and religious lives of the Alevis living in Ad?yaman. In this context, the Alawites' beliefs about birth, marriage and death, and applications in these issues were examined. Besides, differences between the old and new generations, changes in the Alawites community from past to present, the attitudes of thenew generation, who are under the influence of modern life, vis-a-vis customs, traditions and folkways were also discussed. Interviews provided insight into circumstances and attitudes that lead to the difference. On the other hand, this study also examines the relationship of the Alawites with the Sunnis with whom they live together, and whether there are similarities between their perspectives on religion, and their rituals, customs, traditions and folkway. This limited field study is based on the data obtained from the interviews with the old and new generations of the Alawites living in Ad?yaman. To this end, this study was conducted using the method of interviews with participant observation and structured interview based on a questionnaire.
