In this study, it is aimed to investigate the leadership orientations of the students who take sports training in the University according to different variables. The leadership scale questionnaire filled out by 177 male and 90 female students was evaluated. T-test, one-way analysis of variance and LSD tests were employed statistically. While there are no significant differences in scores of people-oriented leader, structure-oriented leader and transformation leadership by gender (p>0,05), statistically significant differences were revealed in charismatic leadership characteristics (p<0,05). No statistically significant difference was observed in characteristics of people-oriented, structure-oriented, transformational leadership and charismatic features based upon the age groups, Team and individual sports and receiving any title in national and International competitions (p>0,05). Some significant differences were discovered in some sub-dimensions in the domicile and number of siblings. A significant difference was found in some of the subscales of the scale according to the type of the recreate activity (p <0.05). Conclusion: It was concluded that the students taking sports education in the University demonstrate similar leadership tendencies and they are at a level that is deemed good. Artistic activities should be included in recreational activities. Incorporation of information which may enhance leadership tendencies in the sports education is recommended.
