Abstract

Author(s): Celal HAYIR

In accordance with the policies of the Western imperialist powers’ sharing of land, the last piece of land that belonged to Ottoman Empire had been occupied. Thereagainist this, the republic was officially proclaimed in 1923 after the Turkish War of Independence that they came through under Mustafa Kemal’s leadership which took place in Anatolia. During the years between 1923-1938 when Atatürk was in power, they intended a shift to a modern (!) society from a religious community. Accordingly, as a result of the period of “modernization” which was conducted by the only Kemalist political party in power, the society started to face serious political, social and cultural changes. Despite some breakthroughs in the life of art, cinema industry got no support from the government. And all the activities in the field of cinema were conducted according to the book under MuhsinErtu?rul’s knowledge and power who was known as the only man of the cinema industry. In coherence with this study, an analysis of all the cases above was worked up.
