Abstract The Republic of Turkey on many issues is a continuation of the Ottoman Empire. Since Tanzimat, there have been people who think that Western civilization must be imitated in every aspect for salvation. This understanding soon dominated the management of the new Republic of Turkey. Thus, a radical change process began on the way to becoming Western. This change process also covered daily life. This change process, which surpasses the necessity of being a nation state, aimed to completely eliminate the relations of women and men originated from religion. ?n this way so a complete Westernization was wanted. However, management has seen the difficulties of intervention in everyday or private life. For this reason, this issue was wanted to accomplish by state and fun by following a sweet hard policy. The most symbolic indicator of this is Republic balls. Republic balls were imposed on the public as a Westernization instrument in the hands of the administration, which was locked into the goal of wholesale Europeanization. This app has created its own supporters. However, it also caused the opposition to get tighter and resent the state. For this reason, the administration of the period hesitated to appear before the public to get their actions approved. This in the process, there have been some changes in the relationship between men and women. However, this is not a result achieved with prom culture. This change has occurred as a result of some inevitable developments depending on the spirit of the time. This study is dealt with a descriptive method based on literature review. The study sociologically has aimed to reveal the mission of the Republic's balls, the traumas it created and the changes caused by it.
