Author(s): Ahmet KESKIN

Traditional Abdal music is a field, which exists in Turkish music culture and Abdal tradition, from past to present and has a deep-rooted history. Abdals, who have a huge importance not only in terms of music but also in terms of their functions in sociocultural sense, represent a tradition that dates back to old times. One of the most important representatives of this tradition that was faced with danger of disappearing in 20th and 21th centuries, is Neet Erta. In this study, Neet Erta, who integrated what he has learnt from Muharrem Erta within a master-disciple relationship with his artistic capacity and his own life experiences, and represented Abdal culture and music tradition by taking them to a high level, was studied in the context of his place and importance in passing down traditional Abdal music. The subject of the representation and the future of Abdal music tradition after the loss of this great representative, was analyzed. At the end of the study, some conclusions which are reached with the information and findings obtained, were shared.
