Abstract

Author(s): Rıdvan BAL

The United Nations is an international organization founded to prevent the wars between countries and to produce social and economic policies for ensuring peace and security in international relations. One of the most important organs of this organization is the Security Council. The Security Council takes the lead in determining the existence of a threat to the peace or act of aggression but it happens in a system according to balance of power-veto system- established after Second World War. There are currently 16 peacekeeping operations. Turkey, because of its geostrategic location, is one of the most easily affected countries from them. The purpose of this study is to compare the differences between the Republic of Abkhazia and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, in the context of effect and results of peacekeeping operations.
