The present essay aims to study the reasons behind secondary education students’ absenteeism and the impact that new regulations has on the absenteeism in Atakum district. In the first part of the essay, the researcher has studied the schools such as - Kurupelit K?z Teknik ve Meslek Lisesi, Taflan Yal? Ticaret Meslek Lisesi, Cumhuriyet Lisesi, Huriye Süer Anadolu Lisesi- in Atakum District that consists of 328 students. Data is made up of six chapters and thirty one items, composed of information obtained from the survey. The results have shown that Students’ absence from the lessons is caused by the school management and the teachers. In other words, Family and environment had no effect on not their attending the lessons. In the second part of the essay, the researcher will discuss new regulations that has been published in official newspaper dated 07.09.2013, issue, 28758, to reduce absenteeism. For this purpose, in 2013 District National Education Manager has benefited from the data bank. According to new regulations, the number of absenteeism has been reduced from 20 days to 10 days. Consequently, this new rule, has reduced the number of students who has been absent in the lessons. K
