Abstract

Author(s): Ramazan BULUT

Literary texts are the expression of life and society. We have discussed the reproduction, differentiation and change of the identity of Islamic section in Turkey through novels published in 2000's. The Islamic section, which is evaluated within conservatism, seems to have experienced a two-way conflict. However, the dilemma of the conflict is, on one hand, to maintain the Islamic tradition and, on the other hand, to present the piety models in harmony with the modernization. Urbanization is the most significant parameter of change in Islamic section in Turkey. Urbanization phenomenon in the center of all other changes has widely influenced and changed also the Islamic section as well as all other sections. Islamic identity has traditional and modern dimensions. These dimensions make the fundamental reference points clear for the formation and maintenance of Islamic identity. This study is an attempt to read through literary texts about how the question of identity and identity of representation, one of the manifestations of the urbanization phenomenon, is established and maintained in the Islamic section.
