Contemporary Education Journal, of which retired teacher Hüseyin Hüsnü Tek???k is the founder and lead writer, has played
an important role in addressing the educational problems of the period by regularly publishing from 1976 to 2013. In this study, it is
aimed to address the issues dealt with in periodicals related to special education between 1976 and 1986 in the context of the Journal of
Contemporary Education. All issues of the journal published between the relevant years have been accessed from the National Library,
and writings and articles which are suitable for the purpose have been evaluated using the content analysis method. At the end of the
research; It has been observed that the writings and articles related to special education in the journal between 1976 and 1986 mostly
include issues related to the diagnosis and education of mental deficiency and gifted children. Among the main topics covered in the
journal are to help children with physical disabilities benefit from equal opportunities in education, the education of educators of
children in need of special education, and the integration of children who require special education. In the journal, problems with
special education are also mentioned between 1976 and 1986, diagnosis and inclusion problems related to special education, insufficient
resources and value allocated to special education, inabilty to make physical conditions suitable for physically disabled children, the
lack of understanding of the importance and value that should be given to special education by education stakeholders are considered
as the main problems.
