PRESERVICE MUSIC TEACHERS’ MUSICAL PREFERENCES AND LISTENING SITUATIONS IN HUNGARY AND TURKEY

The purpose of the study is to reveal the musical preferences, music listening situation and genre identification levels of the Turkish and Hungarian preservice music teachers. Data was obtained by a listening scale consists of music excerpts in different genres. The results showed that the most preferred genre is classical music and the least preffered genre is electronic music in both groups. There was no significant differences on musical preferences in both groups. But the music listening situation has shown significant differences. Turkish music excerpts were liked by the Hungarian participants as much as Turkish Participants.
