Concerning the construction of gunpowder factory and the improvement and restoration of the old one in Istanbul by Selim III who is one of the innovator sultans of Ottoman history, by his Nizam-? Cedid (The New Order) reforms, famous poet Sheikh Galib rhymed three poems and one concerning a palace built in a gunpowder factory. They are a kind of poems which are called tarih and whose sum of numerical value of each letter of the last verse gives us the date in which they were built or restored. It can be concluded from these poetries that Sheikh Galib was following the operations of his time and interested in the different areas like gunpowder factories. It is aimed in this paper to determine which poem concerns which gunpowder factory and the palace in the garden of which factory is constructed, and also to understand better the poems.
