The effects of teacher behaviours, teaching methods and student characteristics on musical development are well known. However there is no knowledge about what’s going on out of the lesson environment. Children’s perceptions on their musical potentials are grown in the family. So the studies on parental behaviours, thoughts and beliefs during this learning course become more important. The aim of this study is to reveal the opinions of the parents whose children have private lessons. The data were collected with semi-structured interview questions and analysed with descriptive analiyse technique. At the end of the study parents’ beliefs and thoughts on private piano lessons, their efforts, their ways of thinking and observations and the reasons why they choose private piano lessons were discussed.
