Abstract

Author(s): Yakup POYRAZ

The topic of this study is to introduce 32 rare Eastern Turkish (Chaghatai) manuscuripts from the first catologue of the Turkish Manuscripts in the British Museum Library, dated 1888. We will examine these Eastern Turkish manuscripts as part of wider collection of Turkish manuscripts in the British Library in order to introduce them slightly. At the beginning of this study, we give some general information about the British Library and Eastern Turkish literarute. Then we introduce recorded Eastern Turkish prose and poetry. There are thousands of Turkish manuscripts in foreign libraries. They are an important part of our literature and history. Nearly two thousand Turkish manuscripts in the British Library are waiting for researchers and scholars to study them
