Ottoman Prohibition of Alcoholic Beverages Society, which is not much known by us, was found to clear the production, consumption, selling and importation of alcoholic beverages away in the Ottoman lands. As for the Prohibition Act of Alcoholic Beverages, it was firstly presented by Deputy of Trabzon Ali ?ükrü Bey to the First Assembly as a draft act and debated a long time of period. It was alleged that the purpose of this act, which approved in 14 September 1920 and in force for nearly four years, was to get an active participation to the National Struggle of the conservative wing, as well. At the same time, there is an allegation about being debated the Prohibition Act of Alcoholic Beverages is related to the accepted act of the prohibition of alcoholic beverages in the USA recenlty. Within the scope of this article, firstly a theoretichal and historical framework will be drawn, then the emergence of Ottoman Prohibition of Alcoholic Beverages Society and Prohibition Act of Alcoholic Beverages shall be studied with regard to their incentives.
