Especially XIX. century, with the Tanzimat, the direction of the Ottoman Empire to the West, the gateway to Europe has always been through French. Education, culture, military, political and so on. French-Turkish dictionaries, grammar books and speech guides were prepared in time. The fact that most of the dictionaries are written in the field of French-Turkish dictionary is the main indicator of the influence of French throughout the Ottoman Empire.Fifty French-Turkish dictionaries, written until the change of letters in 1928, could not reach the numerical existence of any other Western language. While the authors of the dictionaries were originally foreigners or non-Muslim citizens of the Ottoman Empire, Turkish intellectuals established dominance in this field.
